摘要：
Synthetic based drilling fluids developed as an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional petroleum-derived oil based fluids is studied. They are composed of synthesized organic compounds, esters, ethers, polyalphaolefins and linear alkylbenzenes. They serve as the external phase in invert emulsion drilling fluids. They have properties equivalent to conventional oil based drilling fluids, and are more acceptable to the environment.
