摘要
In engineering practice, inelastic time history analysis to evaluate the inelastic capacity of a building is impractical for tall buildings due to the great length of computational time and the difficulties of interpreting results. Therefore, a simplified inelastic analysis method is required for the purpose of practical application. In this paper, a simplified dynamic inelastic analysis method (SIA) using elastic and inelastic response spectrum is introduced to perform an inelastic analysis. The relative accuracy and efficiency of SIA are explored by comparing the results with those by time history analysis software, DRAIN-2DX. The results between SIA and DRAIN-2DX are closely identical, while the computational time is dramatically reduced and time consuming efforts interpreting results are saved.
