We describe three cases where patients expectorated titanium staples many months after lung volume reduction surgery (LVRS). The possible mechanisms and technical implications of this rare complication are discussed. (Ann Thorac Surg 2001;71:1694-5) (C) 2001 by The Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
