Resonant coherent excitation of surface channeled ions

摘要：
We observe the resonant coherent excitation (Okorokov effect) of [100] surface channeled B4+ ions from n = 1 to n = 2 on a SnTe(001) surface through the reduction of the B4+ fraction which is caused by the ionization of the excited B4+ ions. On an atomically hat surface, the reduction of the B4+ fraction is almost erased by subsequent charge exchange processes near the surface. We show that these subsequent charge exchange processes can be suppressed by utilizing surface steps.
