Favourable weather conditions enabled to start sugar beet sowing from the middle of March. Sowing lasted longer than usual until the second decade of April. Total sowing area 21,707 hectares was slightly lower compared to the previous year. Sugar beet was grown by 207 farmers with the average acreage of 104.9 hectares. The average amount of sugar beet specimens reached 84,000 pcs per hectare. During the sugar campaign 1,242,423 tons of sugar beet were processed. Sugar beet was harvested from the acreage of 21,707 hectares and about 50 thousand tons were exported for processing in the Czech Republic. The average yield per hectare reached 57.24 tons, which is a decrease of 20 tons per hectare as compared to previous year. The average sugar content reached 16.19% that is approximately the standard level. Total production of white sugar was 175,089 tons. The average daily processing capacity was 10,646 tons per day, which is a slight increase as compared to the previous year. The sugar campaign lasted 128 days in total.
