摘要
Use of DNA microarrays to explore gene expression on a global level is being applied to the study of pituitary tumors to learn more about pathogenesis, medical treatment, and prognosis of these tumors. Early studies have identified several new genes in human pituitary tumors, which are unique to growth hormone, corticotropin, and nonfunctional tumors. These new genes provide insight into the pathogenesis of specific tumor types and might serve as targets for chemotherapy and for targeting of tumors that are uniquely overexpressing specific gene products.
