摘要：
A broad overview of light scattering and nonlinear optical experiments is presented which gives information about the structure and dynamics of collective excitations in condensed matter. The general ideas are illustrated with examples taken from various types of polaritons, from excitons in quantum-well semiconductors, and from excitons in polymers.
