Research on the Evaluation of Urban-Rural Integration Process in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China

Presently it is the critical period of both strategic opportunity and the social reforming for Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, the dualistic structure of urban-rural is remarkable, both social programs and the public services in rural areas are at a low level, the urban-rural social programs developed imbalancedly. Urban-rural integration in Xinjiang is restricted by many factors, such as the dualistic urban-rural structure originated from the barriers of registered permanent residence, the unbalanced supply of public services between urban and rural, the local government's financial resources, level of economic development and so on. This paper tries to evaluate the urban-rural integration process in Xinjiang by building fitting index system of urban-rural integration for Xinjiang, from which concluded that In general the level of urban-rural integration in Xinjiang is in the transitional stage from the initial urban-rural integration to the moderate urban-rural integration. Between the two factors which impact the urban-rural integration in Xinjiang, the influence degree of urban-rural developing level is much more than the urban-rural coordination level, which will go ill with the realization of urban-rural integration.
