摘要
The JVET team of ITU-T and MPEG are currently preparing the next video coding standard known as Versatile Video coding (VVC). A Quadtree plus Binary tree (QTBT) structure with improved intra prediction tools will be adopted in the new standard to enable significant improvement in coding performance. In this paper, statistical analysis conducted on different encoded video sequences, particularly analysis on intra and partition modules, are presented. Results show that intra modes of the 6 Most Probable Modes (MPMs) list are commonly used. A deeper partition is also enabled based on the Quantization Parameter (QP) and the video texture. This work can be considered as a milestone for proposing intelligent algorithms based on video characteristics to perform fast decision in the encoding process.
