摘要
This study aimed at investigating perception of constraints and motivation in recreational sport participation and the possible relationship between constraints, motivation and participation level, so as to provide some consideration to the development of recreational sports market and the design of sports public services in Shanghai 301 individuals (residents of the city of Shanghai, China) who have lived in the city for more than one year continuously and reported to have participated in some kinds of recreational sport in the past year completed the related questionnaire Analysing data with the method of factor analysis, regression analysis, MANOVA and etc, the present study showed that significant relationships existed between various constraint dimensions and motivation dimensions There was positive influence of intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation on participation level, while negative but powerful influence of motivation on the participation level Comparing it with similar studies of Alexandris & Grouios (2002) and Sun Xiaoqiang (2006), we found some difference in the relationship between constraints, motivation and participation level Future effort could focus on suggesting a valid and reliable scale more suitable to autochthonous study Also the issue of motivation should be emphasized and the constraint negotiation process should be considered in further investigation
