Research on Mo/Cu functionally graded materials by resistance sintering under ultra-high pressure

摘要
A newly developed method named "resistance sintering under ultra high pressure" has been invented for the fabrication of Mo/Cu Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs). The consolidation was carried out under pressure of 8 GPa, and input power of 15 kW for 50 s. The relative density of the FGM specimen was above 98% and the composition distribution was nearly the same as the targeted one. The densification effect and microstructure of these FGM samples were investigated. The micro-hardness and bending strength were measured to evaluate the sintering effects. The sintering mechanism was also studied.
