摘要
After a brief introduction to the structure and general properties of polyoxometalates, the unusual versatility and tunability and their compatibility with environmentally and economically attractive conditions (solvents, oxidants, etc.) are outlined. These characteristics enable polyoxometalates suitable for catalyst to design at the atomic/molecular levels and applicable in the aspects of green catalysis and clean production. Recent developments of clean oxidation systems catalyzed by polyoxometalates are summarized. The emphasis is on the epoxidation reaction of olefinic compounds, oxidation of alkanes and aromatic compounds with the comparatively ideal oxidants, hydrogen peroxide and molecular oxygen respectively. The oxidation mechanisms are elucidated in detail. In addition, the applications of polyoxometalates in the area of biomimetic catalysis are discussed.
