摘要
In this paper, a new type of eight-wheel vehicle (EWV) with adaptive ability is proposed. The vehicle is composed of four sets of passive suspension mechanisms, which can adjust the relative swing angle of the vehicle's chassis and ground automatically and passively. Then the ride comfort of the novel EWV is investigated. Based on the characteristics of the EWV, a dynamics model is established to provide a theoretical basis for designing passive suspensions. According to the dynamics model, we build a corresponding virtual prototype in ADAMS. By discussing the effects of stiffness, damping coefficient, and external excitation on ride comfort during the simulation process, the effectiveness of the dynamics model is verified. Besides, the simulation results show that the ride comfort of the proposed EWV has been significantly improved.
