摘要
This contribution presents new clues on the small-scale structure of the magnetic field in the quiet sun. It is shown that the contradiction between field strengths obtained from the analysis of visible and infrared observations can be easily understood if one assumes that the field has unresolved structure, with both strong and weak fields coexisting in the spatial pixel. Furthermore, the observed discrepancy can be used to probe the small-scale distribution of field strengths.
