On the Cultivation of Chinese College Students' Awareness of Social Responsibility from the Perspective of Experiential Education

Social responsibility is one of the most important qualities of being a human and it is also an essential content of college education. However, many Chinese college students have weak social responsibility. They are self-centered, selfish and indifferent to others due to various reasons. Thus, the issue and topic of cultivating college students' awareness of social responsibility has always caused heated discussion nowadays. Experiential education is a novel trial towards it. This paper first explains the definition of social responsibility and the origin of the theory of experiential education. And then, the importance of experiential education is analyzed. After discussing reasons of students' lack of social responsibility, the paper proposes different ways of cultivating students' awareness of responsibility from the perspective of experiential education, with the aim of arousing college students' sense of duty and developing positive habits of responsible behaviors.
