Low-energy recoil scattering from hydrogen adsorbed on Ni (111)

摘要
The technique of low-energy recoil scattering (LERS) is applied to detect hydrogen an a Ni (1 1 1) surface at 220 K. Recoiling spectra induced by pulsed 1 keV-Ne+ primary-ion beams were monitored as a function of polar and azimuth angles. It was found that the H atoms occupy both the fcc- and hcp-adsorption sites on the Ni (1 1 1) terraces at a height of apporximately 1.1-1.5 Angstrom above the plane of the first layer of Ni atoms.
