Phase-separation mechanism for giant magnetoresistance of lanthanum manganites

摘要
Based on the fact that the nonsaturated magnetic state of La1-xCaxMnO3 and related materials is a result of their mixed ferro-antiferromagnetic state, the possibility is investigated that such a state is caused by a thermodynamical equilibrium nonuniform oxygen distribution. Its magnetic field-induced change should lead to a giant magnetoresistance of these materials.
