Male breast cancer

Breast cancer in men is a rare disease, accounting for approximately 1% for all breast cancers and 0.2 - 1.5% of all malignant tumours in men. Treatments for men with breast cancer are very similar to those offered to women. This article discusses the case of one man suffering from breast cancer. A review of literature on this topic completes the study. There are many similarities between breast cancers in men and women; however, a gender specific psychological distress is also evident. Increased knowledge of breast cancer in men amongst healthcare professionals and the public is needed to improve patient care.
