摘要
This investigation attempts to reduce the increase in smoke emission of CI engine resulted during retarded injection timing. A single cylinder 4.4 kW, naturally aspirated stationary CI engine was used in the present investigation. Effects of retarded fuel injection timing on the performance and emission characteristics of the engine were studied. It was observed that NOx emission and thermal efficiency of the engine were decreased with an increased smoke density. To reduce the smoke density of the engine, fuel injection pressure was increased at the retarded injection timing and its effect on NOx and smoke density was investigated. It was also observed at retarded injection timing and higher injection pressure that the smoke density of the engine reduced significantly, with marginal increase in NOx emission.
