摘要
We investigated elastic constants C(ij) of Pd(78)Cu(6)Si(16) and Pd(42.5)Cu(30)Ni(7.5)P(20) bulk metallic glasses (RMGs) by frequency-range electromagnetic-acoustic-resonance technique from ambient temperature to 5 K. C(ij)(T) behaviors are well expressed by Varshni's formula and estimated Einstein temperatures show the marked softening of acoustic phonons in these systems. The BMGs show a low shear to longitudinal modulus ratio C(44)/C(11), or an equivalently high Poisson's ratio v. compared with constitutive crystalline elements. These unusual acoustic properties of the BMGs originate from their glassy microstructure and the C(44)/C(11) ratio might be a useful parameter for characterizing the phase stability of BMGs.
