Bis[4′-(4-methylphenyl)-2,2′:6′,2"-terpyridine-κ3N,N′,N"]manganese(II)bis(perchlorate)

In the title complex, [Mn(C22H17N3)(2)](ClO4)(2), the MnN6 coordination geometry is distorted octahedral, involving the six N atoms of two 4'-(4-methylphenyl)- 2,2': 6',2 ''- terpyridine ( ttp) ligands. The two chelated ttp planes are almost perpendicular, with a dihedral angle of 89.1 ( 5) degrees. The packing involves intermolecular C - H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds between the ttp ligands and perchlorate anions. The latter are disordered over two positions, one with almost equal occupancy and the other in a ratio of ca 0.7: 0.3.
