摘要
Purpose - The purpose of the paper is to show the results of our researches on concrete waste recycling, and. to promote the research and application on Recycled Aggregate Concrete (RAC). Design/methodology/approach - The data used in the research are mainly from experiments in laboratory. Findings - The results show that RAC is necessary and successful on solving the problem of the waste concrete. Recycled aggregate can not only save the limited landfill space, construction resources and protect. the environment, but also can reduce the construction cost. RAC meets the waste minimization strategies of reuse, recycle and reduction (3Rs). It is also very consistent with the strategy of sustainable development and can apply in other similar circumstances. Practical implications - With the successful application of RAC in Wuhan CBD, RAC also can be used to reconstruction new house with the collapse of the abandoned concrete housing in earthquake-stricken Wenchuan. As long as there are abandoned concrete, RAC will contribute to the economic and social. Originality/value - RAC not only can be used to build roads as previous research, but also can be used to reconstruction new house if the abandoned concrete has good quality. It means a lot and could be a bright start for construction industry to apply RAC as a way of sustainable development.
