摘要
A novel and simple SOA-fiber laser which uses a slanted fiber Bragg grating written in a multimode fiber (M-FBG) for switchable multiwavelength operation is proposed. Due to multimode coupling in the slanted M-FBG, multi-peak reflection is realized. Experimental results show that the stable five-wavelength lasing operation with a wavelength separation of similar to 0.54 nm can be achieved at room temperature. The configuration is simple and flexible. Only by adjusting the polarization controller, the laser can be switched between the single-, dual-, and multiwavelength lasing operations in a stable and repetition manner. (C) 2005 Elsevier B.V.
