摘要
Double Split T moment connections are an alternative to welded moment connections between steel beams and columns. Models and design procedures have been formulated for the connection and the T-stub. However, most of the research has been carried out on T stubs obtained by cutting hot-rolled WF sections. Welded T stubs present advantages over hot-rolled split T stubs in terms of improved material utilization, freedom of sizing, and availability. Analytical studies on the behavior of fillet welded T-stubs subjected to loading conditions simulating the connection were conducted. The objectives of these studies included determining the limit states that control the behavior of welded T-stubs, and evaluating applicability of current design recommendations to welded T-stub moment connections. The results of the studies indicate that the welded T stub performs adequately and the fillet weld can be designed to withstand several cycles of loading without fracturing.
