摘要
Tissue characteristics as the spectral behavior of its reflectance or its scattering fingerprint provide features able to differentiate healthy from diseased conditions. The scattering of the aortic wall determines the degradation level of the vessel and reveals aneurysm prognosis. On the other hand, the reflectance of tumor tissue differs from its surrounding providing an inherent contrast to guide resection when hemoglobin spectral features become enhanced to highlight the angiogenesis mechanism. Both biomedical applications are based on fiber-optic systems.
