摘要
In the present investigation, we report the green synthesis of titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) using an extract of Vitex negundo Linn, with and without ionic liquid (1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate-[EMIM](+) BF4-) by an eco-friendly method. Ionic liquids as a designer solvent act as a self-assembling template and play a very important role in synthesis of TiO2 nanoparticles. XRD analysis, displays that the both TiO2 NPs confirmed the crystalline nature with the average crystalline size of 10 nm and 19 nm in the form of anatase phase structure. The spherical and rod shaped morphologies are confirmed by TEM analysis, and the average particle size is about 26 nm and 15 nm. The Ti-O stretching bands are observed at 453.47 cm(-1)-77932 cm(-1) from the FT-IR spectrum. Further, we have explored the antibacterial activity of TiO2 NPs against Staphylococcus aureus (gram positive) and Escherichia coli (gram negative) organisms. Thus, these green synthesized TiO2 nanoparticles can be used for a broad spectrum of biological applications. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
