Dempster-Shafer theory made tractable and stable

Dempster-Shafer (DS) evidential theory has been used inside the identification fusion component of Level-1 fusion for many real-world platforms with very few modifications. Some simple practical modifications render the DS rule computationally tractable and avoid large conflicts typical of Zadeh's example, without losing the flavor of the DS rule. This position paper gives a few relevant examples from testbed simulations.
