Juridization of the indigenous: Globalization from above or Globalization from below? The case of lithium extractivism in thNorthwest Argentina

The present work proposes to problematize the process of juridization of the indigenous thing happened since the eighties and deepened in the decade of the nineties in the Latin American region, in a context of internationalization of the political uses of the cultural categories. Through the theoretical discussion and the investigation into secondary sources referring to the case of lithium extractivism in northwestern Argentina, it analyzes the relationship between human rights, indigenous peoples and extractivism, taking into account the mechanisms by which the demands are carried out. and claims of the indigenous communities that inhabit these territories.
