The doping effect of Cr3+ and Ti4+ in Sm1.5Sr0.5Ni1-x(Cr-x/Ti-x)O-4 (x=0.05) on crystal structure, grain response and dielectric behavior are investigated over a wide temperature range (30-200 degrees C) and frequency range (100 KHz - 10 MHz). The X-ray diffraction pattern confirms a single orthorhombic phase with space group Fmmm(69). Giant dielectric response is observed in these ceramics with considerable loss reduction in Ti4+ doped Sm1.5Sr0.5NiO4 as compared to Cr3+. Impedance spectroscopic studies reveal the contribution of grain and grain boundary to the colossal values of dielectric constant in these ceramics. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
