摘要
The primary difficulties while using Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as a filler in a polymeric composite are inhomogeneous dispersion and distribution of the filler within the matrix and the weak interfacial bonding between them. Functionalization followed by sonication has been done to overcome these challenges. The uniform mixing of Poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) with varying weight fraction (0.1,0.5 and 1) of functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was done in Torque Rheometer Batch Mixer. In this paper, compression molding process, a simple and cost-effective method, was employed to fabricate the composite. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Difference Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetry Analysis (TGA) were used for the characterization of the composites. The thermal conductivities were evaluated with various weight percentages of the MWCNTs at different temperatures. The results show a better thermal stability and improved thermal conductivity.
