摘要
Ultrasonic velocity studies have been carried out in water-rich aqueous solutions of ethylene glycol (EG) in the solute (EG) concentration ranging from 0 to 30% by volume proportions. The measurements were carried out at a temperature of 303.15K using pulse echo interferometer at a frequency of 10 MHz. The ultrasonic velocity, generally found to increase with increase of EG concentration, indicates the possibility of complex formation between water (W) and EG molecules. The influence of electrolytes cadmium sulphate, cadmium chloride and cadmium iodide on the ultrasonic velocity in the above aqueous W-EG solution have also been studied with the electrolyte concentration ranging from 0.01 to 0.1 molarity. The results establish the water structure making and breaking property of the electrolytes in the above solutions.
