摘要
The current study explored the application of dissipative particle dynamics (eDPD) method to simulate combined convection in a vertical lid driven cavity fitted with a corner heater. The eDPD results were compared against finite volume solutions and it was found that eDPD mimicked accurate temperatures and flow fields throughout the cavity for the entire range of Richardson number, 10(-1) <= Ri <= 10(1). A parametric study was presented to examine the influence of Richardson number (Ri) and corner heater's location on the heat transfer via temperature isotherms, streamlines, velocity contours, velocity vectors, temperature profiles, and Nusselt number. The eDPD results were shown to fall within the incompressibility limit where the simulated Mach numbers for the entire results were less than 0.3. (C) 2015 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.
