摘要
The aim of our paper is to present a study about the use of information and communication technology within the Romanian companies from the 7(th) Region of development, Center. Everybody among the scientist and practitioners agrees that information is the most dynamic resource, critical for organizational processes, a resource that managers must treat with high responsibility. The newest member of European Union, Romania is still struggling to pass over the transition period, to increase performance. We consider that investing in information and communication infrastructure must be a priority for Romanian organizations in their way to benefit from the knowledge based economy. Therefore we conducted a study about the way that information technology and its implications are perceived in a sample of organizations from Transylvania. We followed the hypothesis that the information technology changes the organizational culture and structure, leading to a more dynamic environment for work. We have identified and measured some correlations between variables, such as marketing performance, ICT investments and ICT use by the respondents from the sample, enhancing the importance of gender, management position, and organization dimension. We concluded that in Romania we assist at an important penetration of information and communication technology in most of organizations, rather we discovered a pretty scattered landscape regarding to the use of information as a catalyst for decision process, as knowledge management preaches.
