Thermochemical parameters of α-picoline N-oxide adducts of some divalent transition metal bromides

Thermochemical parameters for the adducts [MBr2(alpha-picoNO)(n)] (where M is Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) or Zn(II); alpha-picoNO is alpha-picoline N-oxide and n = 2 or 4) were determined through reaction-solution calorimetry in methanol or aqueous 1.2 M HCl at 298 K as the standard enthalpies for the Lewis acid/base reactions, the standard enthalpies of formation, the lattice standard enthalpies, the standard enthalpies of decomposition and the standard enthalpies for the Lewis acid/base reactions in the gaseous phase. The mean bond dissociation standard enthalpies of the M(II)-oxygen coordinated bond were calculated by using the standard molar enthalpies of formation of the gaseous adducts.
