摘要
The loss of hydrophobicity is an undesired effect for outdoor insulation materials. However, the loss of hydrophobicity due to electrical discharges is not well understood and influencing parameters have not yet been investigated sufficiently. Among these parameters is the influence of humidity. In this paper the influence of water absorption and air humidity on the receding contact angle of two-component addition curing vinyl-methyl silicone rubber and one-component peroxide curing vinyl-methyl silicone rubber after corona exposure is investigated. The results show that high water absorption can prevent the loss of hydrophobicity due to barrier discharges. It is assumed that the evaporation of water from the samples influences the barrier discharge and thus can protect the silicone samples.
