摘要
Heidegger affirms that his thought was entirely guided by Aristotle's phrase: , "something is said to be in many senses" - the whole question therefore being for him: what is the unity of this multiplicity? Following him, Heideggerian studies have above all inquired into the nature of the unity that brings together this multiplicity. However, there is one question that remains outstanding: what should we think of the multiplicity itself? The early Heidegger grasps it under the designation of "modes of being." Now this concept is generally understood on the basis of Husserl's notion of region: in Heidegger's existential analytic being would have modes, as the object in Husserl's transcendental phenomenology has regions. It is this tacitly admitted equivalence between regions and modes of being that we seek to question in this study. Thus we strive to establish that the regions as understood by Husserl are all connected to a single mode of being as understood by Heidegger, who aimed by means of the notion of a mode of being to open up the prime phenomenological question, namely the question of how, to a variety overlooked by Husserl (transl. J. Dudley).
