Cooperative inner-city traffic management

The Munich COMFORT project was launched six years ago. The goal of this joint venture involving the Bavarian government, the city of Munich, and private industry was to reduce the traffic problems in the Munich urban area by means of a cooperative traffic management system. Field trials were set up in the north of Munich to investigate the effects which telematics systems have on the traffic as a whole. The results of these trials are now available.
