摘要
Purpose - The purpose of this article is to examine the dedication one of the three measures of work engagement - in a sample of male and female employees of ESADE Business School, Barcelona. Spain. Design/methodology/approach - Data were collected from 50 respondents, using anonymously completed questionnaires. Engagement was assessed by three scales developed by Schaufeli, Salanova, Gonzalez-Roma, and Bakker. Findings - The following results were observed. First, the dedication is correlated with the position of employees in private universities. Second, a higher score in this items reveals a good environment in the university. Research limitation/implication - Questions of causality cannot be addressed since data were collected at only one point in time. Longitudinal studies are needed to determine the effects of work life experiences on engagement. Practical implication - Public Universities can increase levels of dedication by creating work experiences (e.g. control, rewards and recognition) consistent with effective human resource management practices. Originality/value - This study contributes to our understanding of dedication among employees in public universities.
