摘要
External cephalic version (ECV) is the only obstetrical maneuver available worldwide to improve the chances of vaginal delivery in selected cases of breech presentation after 36 weeks of gestation. The maneuver is one of the cheapest interventions in obstetrics which is being used routinely in most clinics from developed countries. However, is Romania there being still reluctance in offering it to women with non-cephalic babies. In Filantropia Clinical Hospital from Bucharest, Romania we routinely offer ECV in case of breech presentations to selected cases at 36+ weeks. We report a success rate of 57.14% and no complications during maneuver, thus we continue to recommend ECV as well to patients and obstetricians in order to make a step forward in decreasing caesarean section high incidence in our country which is well-known above all professional regulators' recommendations. We present a retrospective study from Filantropia Hospital, a leading national maternity service in Romania, regarding ECV, case selections, success and failure rates, gestational age associated with success rates and ECV technique.
