Relation between ordering and superconductivity in cuprates

We present Raman results on (Y1-yCay)Ba2Cu3O6+x single crystals in the doping range 0 <= p <= 0.07. Above the onset of superconductivity we find strong renormalization effects in the electronic and lattice degrees of freedom indicative of a momentum dependent interaction. In the so-called spinglass range evidence of diagonal stripes similar to those in La2-xSr,Cu-x(4) is found. Our results demonstrate the existence of universal behavior in cuprates at low doping. The different transition temperatures can be linked to the type of order above the threshold where superconductivity appears. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
