摘要
Adaptive signal control technology (ASCT) is an intelligent transportation system (ITS) technology developed to optimize cycle lengths, green times, or phasing sequences for traffic signals based on the changing traffic volumes collected from advanced detectors to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety. The Federal Highway Administration has studied adaptive signal control technologies through the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP). Its study methodology involves interviewing agencies that supervise the installation and operation of adaptive traffic control systems, conduct a literature review from previous studies, and do surveys of ASCT vendors and users.
