摘要：
The current work focuses on the Internacional Criminal Court's approach towards sexual and gender-based crimes. The first three cases of the Court related to such crimes are examined, namely, The Prosecutor v. Thomas Lubanga Dyilo, The Prosecutor v. Germain Katanga and The Prosecutor v. Jean- Pierre Bemba Gombo. The analysis of the Internacional Criminal Court's practice regarding sexual and gender-based crimes allows to establish if it has been up to the Rome Statute innovative provisions. The study also points out the Court's development when handling such crimes, thus, showing the importance of these three initial cases.
