摘要
Due to its exceptional properties recently graphene attracts particular interests. Recently Yao et al. have studied complex refractive index (CRI) of graphene waveguide (GW). They have observed that CRI of GW varies from 2.91-13.92i to 3.81-14.64i for wavelength 1510 to 1590 nm. In optical fibers used for telecommunication industries the wavelength of light wave propagation is 1550 nm. In this paper, we study the advantages of using graphene in the core of optical cables by replacing the existing silicon, plastic etc. It is found that the numerical aperture (NA), acceptance angle, phase difference etc. are increased which ultimately increase the performance of optical fibers and will be much advantageous for telecommunication industries.
