Automatic generation of mathematical expressions of printed Chinese characters

摘要
The mathematical expression of Chinese characters is a novel tool to describe Chinese Characters. Based on the analysis of components of Chinese Characters, the method of automatic generation of mathematical expressions is presented in this paper. We firstly choose about 500 Chinese character components, and select nine basic properties for each of them: Connectivity number, Occlusion-number, Extremity number, Inflexion number, Joint number, Cross number and NMI, HNMI, VNMI; Then, by the segmentation and combination of connective regions, we divide a Chinese character into its components; At last, by the recognition of the components and the Chinese character structure, we obtain the mathematical expressions. Satisfying experimental results are displayed: the correct ratio of mathematical expressions is 92.7%, The proposed scheme will deeply facilitate the management and transmission of Chinese information in the fields such as typesetting printing, advertising and package design, network transmission and Chinese mobile communication and so on.
