摘要
Instructional/learning contexts are settings in which effective communication is essential. Human communication involves sharing messages in order to achieve mutual understandings. These messages consists of verbal as well as nonverbal elements (codes). Either independently, or companion to verbal communication, nonverbal codes are integral elements of communicative messages and may significantly influence communication outcomes. This essay explores nonverbal codes (i.e., proxemics, chronemics, vocalics, kinesics, facial/eye expressions, immediacy) that contribute to the communication climates of instructional environments. This essay posits that positive learning outcomes are contingent upon the nonverbal competence of the instructional participants.
