摘要
The characteristics of tunable bandgap of liquid crystal (LC) infiltrated photonic crystal (PC), studied by transmission spectra, were analyzed. The exact formalism of finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method of square lattice photonic bandgap (PBG) structure was extended to LC/PC structure. The photonic crystal structure was generated by an ensemble of squares in periodic array. The simulations of electromagnetic wave propagation through two-dimensional LC/PBG materials were also analyzed. The difference in the spectral linewidths between different channels was due to the difference in Q values of different cavities that could be optimized for equally high Q values.
