摘要
Philosophically the narrative concerning reality and its representation has always been preoccupied with the split between subject and object. This paper will examine the philosophical implications that the use of metaphor has regarding the treatment of this dichotomy within two volumes of Swahili poetry: Kichomi by Euphrase Kezilahabi and Sauti ya Dhiki by Abdilatif Abdalla. Each poet's respective attitude toward, and use of, metaphor will be upheld as a means by which Kichomi attempts to bridge the gap that exists between subject and object, and Sauti ya Dhiki entrenches the separation between the two.
