摘要
This paper aims to study the impact of individuals and trip characteristics on transport mode choice by applying the multinomial logit model, one of the most relevant categorical data analysis methods. This model deals with a response variable that has more than two categories and a set of variables. Six explanatory variables have been used for building the primary multinomial logit model. This model has been evaluated by making a set of statistical tests to ensure its appropriateness. This study's data processing is based on real observations of the travellers' behaviour based on Budapest city's survey. The analysis results have proved that it is possible to define the relationship between the demographic characteristics of the individuals and the decisions related to mode choice. Also, the analysis showed that all variables impact the mode choice, and the trip distance was the most significant.
