Effect of crack-healing process on fatigue strength of Si3N4/SiC ceramics at 1000°C

摘要
The crack-healing processes Of Si3N4/SiC composite ceramics were investigated. A surface crack of 2C = I 00 mum was introduced on several the surfaces of several specimens and the cracks were healed by several kinds of healing process at 1000degreesC. Both bending and fatigue tests were then carried out at 1000degreesC. The following results were obtained. The sample healed completely at 1000degreesC under stress. The healing processes had a large effect on fatigue strengths. Multi-healing process such as cyclic heating very effectively increased the fatigue strength of the crack-healed zone. The increase of fatigue strength was caused by the sufficient crystallization of the healing material SiO2.
