摘要
Fundamental support of the economy and cross-cutting resource for development, the energy transition is positioned on Cuba's political agenda with a potentially liberating opening of initiatives derived from municipal strategies. However, the initial approach to the problem of the development of renewable energies at the local level, the policies approved in the country on this matter and the experiences in its application reveal some contradictions; among which the limited culture of social and community participation stands out for decision-making on issues related to local energy management, the limited knowledge and appropriation of available energy resources and the poor use of the technology implemented are part of the determining factors of the article aimed at: determining the particularities of the energy transition from the experience of the renewable energy sources project as support for local development. The theoretical foundations are based on the paradigm multifactorial of the information collected. The results obtained reveal a moderate connection between the policies that support energy development in Cuba and local strategic opportunities to generate participatory processes aimed at local energy transition.
